Digital platforms are now a phenomenon that has been researched in many ways. There are contributions from business research on such diverse facets as scaling strategies, pricing or the competition between digital platforms. Nevertheless, there is a need for contributions that not only refer to the current state of research, but also try to provide a translation service. They help to overcome the implementation gap that is often observed. This special issue therefore provides an overview of the current state of research on digital platforms and treats them from an industrial-economic perspective. Among other things, it is dedicated to feedback systems as an important control mechanism for digital platforms.
